Background cable knit stamp

This post is on using one background stamp, Impression Obsession Cable Knit stamp, which allows the coverage of the front of a card as it measures 5.75” square.

I am entering these cards to the The Card Concept #146 - Winter Warm challenge. I pull out my cable knit sweaters only in the winter to keep me warm and when I saw this challenge, I immediately knew the stamp that I was going to use. Though I’ve had this stamp for a while, this is the first time I am using it - so decided to ‘make up for lost time’ and create 5 cards!

Here’s a video to show you how I make these five cards.

Card 1 - White embossing on kraft card

Cover the Impression Obsession Cable Knit stamp with Versamark ink and stamp on kraft card. Sprinkle with white embossing powder and melt embossing powder with heating tool.

Cut kraft card to 5.25” by 4” (slightly smaller that standrd A2 card of 5.5” by 4.25”) or use the A2 layering dies from Waffle Flower which I absolutely love and reach for when making every card.

Die cut ‘thanks’ with SSS thanks die and stamped sentiment ‘for all you do’ from Altenew Many Thanks stamp set.

Card 2 - Brown embossing on white card

Follow same steps as Card 1 but use the Adirondack espresso embossing powder on white card.

Stamped the banner thank you sentiment with Versamark ink and heat embossed the white embossing powder, used coordinating die to cut banner. Layered banner with two layers of white foam for dimension and adhered to card.

Card 3 - Red, blue & green embossing on white card

For this card use the red pepper, stream and lettuce embossing powders from Adirondack - approximately cover a third of the stamped area with one colour of embossing powder.

Die cut the ‘thanks’ from black foam using the Photoplay thanks die and the ‘for all you do’ sentiment is from Altenew Many Thanks stamp set, heat embossed with white embossing powder.

Card 4 - White embossing with ink blending

Heat emboss white embossing powder on white card and apply distress inks with an ink blending tool. The colours used were broken china, spiced marmalade and peeled paint. I prefer using the domed foam pads on the ink blending tool which allows for a smoother blend of the different colours. Buffed the embossed image with a dry cloth to remove excess in on the embossed image which would resist the ink applied onto it - hence the name of resist emboss technique.

Did not have the matching blue card for the sentiment, so directly applied peacock feathers distress ink pad to white card, dried ink and heat embossed circle ‘thank you’ sentiment with white embossing powder. Cut sentiment with coordinating die.

Card 5 - Clear embossing on rainbow ink blending

Applied distress inks with an ink blending tool onto Bristol smooth card to create a gradation of rainbow colours. Colours used were squeezed lemonade, fossilized amber, spiced marmalade, candied apple, mermaid lagoon, peacock feathers and peeled paint.

Once distress inks were dry, stamped the Impression Obsession Cable Knit stamp with Versamark ink and stamp on the now rainbow coloured card. Sprinkled clear embossing powder and her embossed. After that I applied distress ink black soot all over the embossed image.

Buffed the embossed image with a dry cloth to remove excess in on the embossed image which would resist the ink applied onto it - hence the name of resist emboss technique. The rainbow coloured cable knit image shows through.

Die cut some leaves in vellum and adhered the white heat embossed sentiment on it

Hope you enjoyed the video and do leave me a comment . Thank you for stopping by and have a lovely day.
