Just an update that these cards were chosen as the Waffle Flower June 2021 winner - yay!

This post is for the monthly Waffle Flower Challenge for June 2021 is about Rainbows and there has been many inspirations by the Design theme - Make a Rainbow Scene, Non-Rainbow Themed Items, and Pastel Rainbow. All of the inspiration provided me the impetus to create four cards…my usual mode of getting carried away with a theme. It’s the latter two inspirations that inspires the cards I make.

Also I bought a few Waffle Flower stamps sets that I use in these cards and I got a lovely surprise from Waffle Flower with some free gifts - patterned paper pad, heart blooms stencils trio and three packs of enamel dots. I use many of the enamel dots in my cards for this challenge.

Do watch the video below to see how I create these cards.

Card #1, Ink Blending - You Light Up My Day

The Waffle Flower Jumbo Flower Pot stamp and die is the main product for this card. Stamp the base pot and main flower arrangement onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth card (as I am going to ink blend) with Versamark ink, sprinkle with Ranger Superfine White Embossing Powder and heat emboss with WOW Dual Heat Gun Tool.

Use Ranger Distress Inks to ink blend on images. Colours used to represent the rainbow colours in the floral arrangement are Dusty Concord, Seedless Preserves, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, Mermaid Lagoon, Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Ripe Persimmon and Candied Apple. For the Jumbo Pot use Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso, and Black Soot on the left and right edges.

Adhere coordinating dies with washi tape or low tack tape to ink blended images and put through die cutting machine with recommended sandwich for a wafer thin die by the manufacturer.

Now to prepare the background on an A2 card base (which measures 4.25” by 5.5”) made from 110lbs Neenah Solar White Cardstock. Stamp outline small flower bouquets and leaves from the Altenew Trainquility Rose stamp set with Altenew Silver Lake and Butternut inks. Then use an ink blending brush to very lightly apply Altenew Sea Glass ink to top part of card and Distress Oxide ink Vintage Photo to the bottom part of the card, to ‘ground’ the pot.

Splatter some dots with Altenew Antique Gold ink spray using a small paint brush so the splatters are not too big. Also smoosh some Ranger Distress Ink Mermaid Lagoon on mat and spritz with some water, pick up with small paint brush and splat onto card front. Leave to dry.

Arrange jumbo pot and floral arrangement die cuts on card front to decide where the sentiment should go and find a sentiment that would fit that space. Stamp Waffle Flower Fresh Rainbow Sentiment, ‘You Light Up My Day’ with Versafine Onyx Black ink.

Back jumbo pot die cut with fun foam and adhere to card front. Back floral arrangement die cut with Stick It 3D Foam Square for some dimension and adhere to card front above jumbo pot.

Adhere some Lucy’s rainbow drops using Art Glitter Liquid Glue with fine metal tip and Marvy Uchida Jewel Picker. Finally add some shimmer on the flowers with Spectrum Noir Clear.

Card #2, Invisible Vellum Adhesive - Get Well Soon

Warm up heat tool for about 30 seconds to a minute and start heating from back of vellum and keep moving heat tool so vellum does not warp.
