Altenew Feb 2023 Inspiration Challenge

This post shows how I create couple of cards for the Altenew Feb 2023 Challenge using the Color It Up! (FREE Coloring Pages). I use the carnations image. The colour inspiration for the challenge is below, click image to take you to the Altenew blog post.

Do check out the video below.

Print the Carnation image on X-Press It Blending Card (this card is great for colouring with Copics) and copier paper (to create a mask) with a laser printer. Turn on laminator to heat up. Cut the Wild Cherry Deco Foil with a quick trimmer to the size of the printed image. Place piece of trimmed to size Wild Cherry Deco Foil (pretty/shiny side up) on printed image and place into a folded sheet of copier paper, which will serve a a carrier sheet. Run through carrier sheet which holds the printed image and Wild Cherry Deco Foil through the laminator. Tip: I used a very old and cheap laminator, so I had to run the carrier sheet through the laminator three times! However if you have a new laminator, once or twice should do the trick.

Fussy cut the image printed on the copier paper to use as a mask after spraying the back with repositionable adhesive spray. Place created mask over the foiled carnation image and let colour the background with Copic ink spray. The Copic ink colours used for the background are 100, C9, C7, C5, and C3.

For the pink flowers, the Copic markers used are RV10, RV11, RV13, RV14, and RV17. The Copic markers used for the purple flower are RV63, RV66, and RV69. The leaves and stems are coloured with Copic markers, YG93, YG95, and YG97.

Cut the card panel down to 5 1/4” by 4” and back with fun foam for dimension using double-sided tape. Attach fun foam backed card panel to an A2 card.

The sentiment, ‘Hugs Enclosed’ is from the Altenew Paint-A-Flower Coral Sunset stamp set. Treat black card with anti-static powder, stamp sentiment with clear embossing powder, sprinkle with Pure White Crisp embossing powder, and melt the embossing powder with a heat tool. Trim the sentiment with a sentiment strip die. Layer an additional strip to the stamped sentiment and adhere to card front (over the sentiment that was already there when printing the image) with liquid glue. The spraying of the Copic inks to the background made the sentiment less visible, which is why I decided to add a clearer sentiment.

Finish card by adhering some sequins from Catherine Pooler Pierre Sequin Mix, using a gem picker tool and liquid glue.

Card #2

Same steps as Card #1 but use Pink Melon Deco Foil. The other differences from Card #2 are listed below.

Colour the background with Copic ink air brushing. The Copic ink colours used for the background are BV08, BV13, BV02, RV13, RV14, RV17, RV34, RV63, and RV66.

For the flowers, the Copic markers used are C3, C1, C0, C00, and 0 (Colourless Blender). The leaves and stems are coloured with Copic markers, G12, G21, G24, and G28. Used Catherine Pooler Lisbon Sequin Mix.
