3D Floral Focus

This post which includes a video shows how I use four different Altenew floral dies to create four cards. The online class that inspired these cards is 3D Floral Focus by Therese Calvird. This is the first of my five online classes for the Level 3 AECP. I absolutely loved the different ways that Therese showed the dies could be used and how coordinating stamps can be used as well. I tried a NEW TECHNIQUE of die cutting with fun foam to use as a stamp - see card #4 below!

Do check out the video below.

Card #1 - Antique Rose

This card shows how I use one colour with similar hues with the Craft-A-Flower Antique Rose Layering Die Set. A single flower is used on the card with coordinating leaves. For the flower the card is from Memory Box 6in x 6in Cardstock Pack Vibrant Violet and the for the leaves from Boho - Smooth Cardstock Paper Pad. The background used the Pegboard Canvas Die and attached to a purple card from the Memory Box 6in x 6in Cardstock Pack Vibrant Violet. Finished card with the sentiment ‘hello’ from the Sweet Sentiments Die Set.

Card #2 - Rose Flurries

For this card I chose the background from the Enchanting Washes Paper Pack and die cut it with the Pegboard Canvas Die. The flowers are from the Rose Flurries 3D Set and since they are small, I included a cluster of them. Die cut the flowers from Memory Box Ocean Blue 6x6 Paper Pack and die cut the leaves with only one layer with a lighter hue from the background from Memory Box 6in x 6in Cardstock Pack Berry Red. Finished card with the sentiment ‘hugs’ from the Sweet Sentiments Die Set.

Card #3 - Open Peony

This card shows how I use the Craft-A-Flower: Open Peony Layering Die Set accompanied by a similar looking flower stamp, Peony Bouquet Stamp.

The Peony Bouquet Stamp is stamped with Crisp Dye Ink, Sea Shore colour family. The Craft-A-Flower: Open Peony Layering Die Set is die cut from Memory Box 6in x 6in Cardstock Pack Berry Red and inked lightly for shadow and light with Rhodolite Crisp Dye Ink and White Pigment Ink. The centre of the flower is die cut from Pink Brilliance Glitter Cardstock, Rhodolite. The leaves were die cut from Memory Box Lush Green 6x6 Paper Pack.

I added some light ink blending of Lagoon Crisp Dye Ink with a Large Blending Brush at the edges of the card panel. For some dimension backed card panel with fun foam.

Finished card with sentiment from Sentiment Strips 3 Stamp which I stamped with Embossing In, sprinkled with Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat embossed with a heat tool.

Card #4 - Fantasy Floral

For this card I used the Fantasy Floral 3D Die Set and would have used the Floral Fantasy Stamp Set, if I had it as the flower stamp is similar to the die set. So I decided to be innovative and make a stamp out one of the dies. I die cut the smallest flower die with fun foam and adhered it to an acrylic block with non-permanent adhesive - and used it as a stamp.

I ink blended some of the morning mist crisp dye ink with a Large Blending Brush and stamped the fun foam stamp of partial flower and leaves on the card panel with evening gray crisp dye ink and morning mist crisp dye ink. For the evening gray crisp dye ink I used second generation stamping to get a lighter colour.

The floral die set, Fantasy Floral 3D Die Set was die cut from Memory Box 6in x 6in Cardstock Pack Sunny Orange and leaves from Memory Box Lush Green 6x6 Paper Pack.

Finished card from sentiment from Sweet Sentiments Hot Foil Plate Set and die cut with the Sweet Sentiments Die Set.
